About Keira Garcia-Hussein
I am a pre-service teacher who is passionate about supporting young people in both their learning and physical development. Through my studies and practical experiences, I have been developing my skills, confidence, and professional identity as a future educator. I aim to become a positive, supportive, and approachable teacher who creates an inclusive environment where students feel encouraged to participate, challenge themselves, and enjoy learning.
My passion for teaching has grown through my experience working with children in both classroom and physical education settings. I have previously taught Prep to Year 2 PE classes, where I developed a strong interest in helping students build confidence, teamwork skills, coordination, and healthy habits through movement and sport. I have also assisted in classroom environments, which has helped me understand the importance of supporting students academically, socially, and emotionally throughout their learning journey.
I enjoy encouraging students to be active, engaged, and willing to try new things, particularly during sport and outdoor activities. I value the role physical activity plays in children’s overall wellbeing, development, and confidence, and I am interested in creating positive experiences where students feel included and supported regardless of their ability level. I believe participation, encouragement, and building self-confidence are just as important as skill development.
Throughout my studies, I have continued to strengthen important professional skills including communication, organisation, collaboration, and adaptability. I have also developed an understanding of how different students learn and how teaching strategies can be adjusted to support diverse needs within the classroom. My experiences have shown me how important strong teacher-student relationships are in helping students feel safe, motivated, and connected at school.
I also have an interest in using digital tools and interactive learning experiences to support student engagement both inside and outside the classroom. I enjoy exploring ways technology can enhance participation, creativity, and collaboration while supporting different learning styles.
As I continue developing as an educator, I am learning the importance of reflection and ongoing professional growth. Each experience in schools has helped me build confidence and further develop my understanding of what it means to be an effective and supportive teacher.
Looking ahead, I hope to become a caring and confident educator who encourages students to grow academically, socially, and physically. I want to create positive learning environments where students feel supported to reach their potential, develop confidence in themselves, and enjoy being active participants in their learning and school experiences.
